CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL







The 2008 Christmas Festival was a big success. His Excellency The Apostolic Nuncio Adolfo Tito Yllana graced the occasion with his presence and greatly appreciated the efforts of the Sisters, Staff and Students of the Convent of Jesus and Mary Lahore.

FUN FAIR AND PASARELA 2008







To collect funds for the Thevenet Centre for Special Children and for other charitable institutions, CJM held the annual Fun Fair and Pasarela. Despite security concerns the event was a huge success and parents and past pupils turned up to enjoy the day with the staff and students.

PRIZE DISTRIBUTION 2008




The Annual Prize Distribution was a success. The outgoing class attended the ceremony and were awarded numerous prizes and certificates. Sr. Mary of Grace, Sr Provincial, CJM Pakistan, was the Chief Guest. Mrs Jenny Rosoga, Country Manager Educational Development, University of Cambridge, announced the outstanding result which she believed was the best in the region! over 50 % girls got more than 6 A's out of 8 subjects they took in this class. Some took a 9th subject and 7 girls got all 9A's, 12 got 8 A's and so on. Sports Cup and Academic Cup went to FAITH but the prized Social Service Cup was won by DISCIPLINE. The choir sang 'Heal the World' and presented a message for 'PEACE'. Sr. Pilar gave out the prizes and gave a vote of thanks.

CJM team attends World Youth Day 2008 in Sydney

From the Convent of Jesus and Mary, Lahore, Pakistan, there were three students: Anum Shehzad (Class 11), Shanzeh Javaid, (Class 9) and Mariam Samuel (Class 9), accompanied by our Co-ordinator, Mrs. Sunila Javaid and our group leader, Sr. Pilar Vila-San-Juan (Principal) who were selected to attend this prestigious gathering in Sydney, Australia from the 13th of July to the 20th of July, 2008. The team was very lucky to get sponsors to fund this trip down under and this was a learning experience both for the pupils as well as the accompanying teachers.

SENIOR SECTION INTER HOUSE DEBATES






THE INTER HOUSE DEBATES 2008 WERE HELD ON THE 23RD OF APRIL AND WERE A BIG SUCCESS. THE COMPETITORS KEPT THE AUDIENCE'S ATTENTION WHILE THE JUDGES NOTED DOWN THE POINTS GAINED BY EACH HOUSE. DR. ABIDA AWAIS, MRS FAIZA AMIR AND MRS JUDITH KHAN WERE THE ILLUSTRIOUS JUDGES. THE HOUSE TROPHY WENT TO DISCIPLINE!! WELL DONE GIRLS!

A GLITTERING ARRAY OF FINE DECORATIVE POTTERY WORK AND TILE WORK BY THE TALENTED PUPILS OF JUNIOR SCHOOL WAS ON DISPLAY AT THE ANNUAL ART AND CRAFT EXHIBITION OF CJM. STUDENTS ALSO PERFORMED REGIONAL SONGS AND DANCES USING EARTHEN WARE POTS CALLED MATKAS

CJM COMMEMORATES EARTH DAY, 2008


22nd of April marks the Earth Day. The Social Work and Environment Society prepared a very moving and informative programme for the Senior Section. Sr Grace and Sr Pilar graced the occasion and encouraged the students. The programme was the first activity by the senior section held in the newly built multimedia cinema built in the brand new Claudine Hall. Apart from documentaries and motivational songs the students performed skits to get the message across. The house passed a resolution to commemorate this day, "SAY NO TO PLASTIC BAGS!!"This resolution was accepted wholeheartedly. Now CJM Lahore has to prove they keep their promises!

ANNUAL SPORTS DAY APRIL, 2008 POST 1of 4

THE ANNUAL SPORTS DAY, 2008 WAS A BIG SUCCESS. THE EVENT ALSO MARKED THE OPENING OF THE RE DONE GRAND STAND AS AN EXTENSION OF THE CLAUDINE HALL PROJECT. SAINT CLAUDINE'S PAINTING WHICH WILL ADORN THE GRAND STAND WAS ALSO UNVEILED. THE RIBBON CUTTING WAS PERFORMED BY SR GRACE. THE HEAD GIRL SALUTES THE PAKISTAN FLAG HELD BY THE GAMES CAPTAIN WHILE THE NATIONAL ANTHEM IS PLAYING. THE CJM ROLLER SKATERS KEPT THE AUDIENCE AWARE OF THE VALUES AND SPIRIT OF CJM.

THE HEAD GIRL LEAD THE MARCH PAST. FAITH WAS DECLARED THE BEST HOUSE IN THE MARCH PAST BUT THE THEVENET CENTRE MARCH PAST STOLE THE SHOW WITH THE SWEETEST MARCHING! PAST GAMES CAPTAINS WERE PART OF THE AUDIENCE WHO ENJOYED THE EVENT
